Obituary of Helen N. Wicksell

Helen N. Wicksell,  age 88, formerly of Wells,  passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown.

She was born October 18, 1930 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Lansing and Bertha Ruff Beck. She was a 1948 graduate of Gloversville High School.  Helen was employed as a telephone operator for the phone company, a switchboard operator at Robison and Smith and later was a machine operator at Perrella Glove Shop for 20 years until her retirement in 1984.

Helen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two children, Donald B. Wicksell (Paula) of Mayfield and  Cheryl M. Bowman (William) Gloversville;  three grandchildren, Dustin  Wicksell, Nicole Higgins and Amanda  Bowman; four great-grandchildren, Tanner Baker, Jimmer Higgins III, Avery Iorio and Cole Higgins. Also surviving are four nephews.

She was predeceased by  her husband of 63 years, Harry M. Wicksell; two brothers, Robert  Beck  and Milton C. Beck and a sister, Bettye C. Maidment.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday,  January 24 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville where a Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon with the Rev. L. David Almleaf officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
