Obituary of Elizabeth Grace Perham

Elizabeth Grace Perham of Mayfield went to rest on Monday, September 9, 2019.  Born January 9, 1925 on Jackson Summit Road in Mayfield. She resided in her home for the past 80+ years.  She married Richard Edward Perham on February 13, 1943.

She was the daughter of Beatrice Grace McCane and Nelson Harey. Attended school at the Riceville Rural School.

She is survived by her 3 sons; David (Betsy), William (Debra) and Timothy (Nannette).  Grandchildren; Richard Perham (Kelly),Kate Perham Houtz (Daniel), Suzanne Perham Rozniewski (Mark), Daniel Perham (Mikaela), Robert Perham (Cara Bruno) and Thomas Perham.  Great Grandchildren Stephanie Perham, Aiden Ellithorpe, Lillian Perham, Sadianne Rozniewski, William Houtz, Rhett Perham, Elizabeth Houtz, Easton Rozniewski and Brooks Houtz.  Also left behind is her ever faithful dog, Blue.

Betty was a housewife for many years raising her 3 sons along with many other kids who needed someone to care.  She worked alongside her husband and 3 sons while establishing their “Perham Dairy Farm”. She also worked in the Cafeteria at Mayfield Central School.  She may have been small, but she was mighty and a very hard worker.

She spent a great deal of time lovingly caring for her grandchildren.  They all have many fond memories of “Gram”. She spent a lot of time with her Sister, Jane Bonfey and her family.  Jane’s son, Bob, recalls his mom telling him, ‘Betty is my sister, my mother and my friend”.

Betty opened her home to anyone who had a need.  Don Scott lived with Betty and her family when he was a teenager.  He has fond memories of life on her farm.

She enjoyed dancing.  Many nights during milking, she would dance with Kate and Suzy when they were little farm girls.  She would also travel weekly to the Broadalbin Hotel or wherever her favorite Dick Barnes Band was playing.  Her friends there were so kind to her.

She graciously took care of many elderly people when their need came along.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dick; her 3 Grandsons, Stephen, Peter and Paul Perham; Sister, Jane Bonfey; and her parents.
