Obituary of Marjorie E. Dunlavey

         Marjorie E. Dunlavey,  of Locust Avenue, Tribes Hill, passed away Monday December 9, 2019 at the age of 95 at St. Mary’s Hospital with her family at her side. 

    Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 27, 1924 to Ethel and Edgar Gardinier of Amsterdam, NY. 

    Marjorie was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1942.  She went to work for General Electric Co. in Schenectady during World War II and later she worked for Sears in Amsterdam, Gloversville and Albany, NY for over 25 years. 

     She was a member of the former Emanuel Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam until moving to Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church where she was a former choir member, Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.   She was a member of the Republican Club, Bowling Clubs, High School Reunion Committees.  She was also an active member of the Tribes Hill Fire Department Auxiliary and the Glen Mohawk Seniors in Fonda.  Marjorie was awarded a 12,500 hour Volunteer Certificate from the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

   She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and strangers alike company.

   Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Joseph J. Dunlavey whom she married in 1947.   She was also predeceased by brothers,  Harlow (Beverly) and Floyd (Dora) Gardinier of Amsterdam, NY and Richard Gardinier (Nancy) of Arundel, Maine and sister, Norma (Ray) Murphy of Syracuse. Step-children, Robert and Glen Dunlavey of Schenectady and Joyce Duglin of Rotterdam, NY.

     Marjorie is survived by one sister, Hazel Roberts of Arizona.  Sons, David (Diane) Dunlavey of Delmar, and Edgar Dunlavey of Tribes Hill.  Four grandchildren, Christopher (Jacqueline) Dunlavey of Rensselaer, Tracy (Andrew) Miller of Tribes Hill, Robyn Dunlavey of Fonda, and Kyle Dunlavey of White Plains. 

    Eight great-grandchildren, Abigale and Alexandra, Joshua, Logan, Kyla, Kasandra, Jocelyn and Jordan.  One great-great-grandchild, Jaxon.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 14, 2019 at 5:00Pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY with Pastor Larry Greenwold presiding.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday prior to the service from 3:00 to 5:00PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department, 280 Mohawk Dr., Tribes Hill, NY 12177 or to the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, 116 Elizabeth St, Tribes Hill, NY 12177.   Burial will be in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill.   Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com
