Obituary of Beverly Granger

Mrs. Beverly Granger, 84, of Palatine Bridge, NY died peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Albany Medical Center with her family by her side.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William and Marion Mosher Griswold.

A lifelong area resident, Bev grew up in Perth NY and was a 1952 graduate and valedictorian of Perth Central High School.  She was employed by General Electric as a stenographer, Adirondack Finishing, Lee Die, and Central National Bank for 31 years in the deposit operations, auditing, mortgage and loan departments.  Following retirement in 1991 as the Central National Bank manager of the Canajoharie office, she worked for John Francisco, Esq. traveling New York State for many years specializing in mortgage closings.  In addition, she drove a taxi in Canajoharie and assisted in the management of Granger’s Apartments.

She was devoted to her family, making clothes, attending sporting events and enjoyed numerous camping trips.  Bev was dedicated to her community and was an active member of the Palatine Literacy Society since 1975, served on the Vestry at Church of the Good Shepard in Canajoharie as treasurer and warden, served on the Village of Palatine Bridge planning board from 2000 to 2005 and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She very much enjoyed her last few years of retirement spending winter months in Myrtle Beach and devoting her time to her children and grandchildren whenever possible.  She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband, C. Walter Granger in 2003.

Survivors include her children, Lance Granger and his wife Gail of Chelmsford, MA and Cheryl Antonucci and her husband John of Stony Brook, NY; one sister, Carolyn Basinger of Glenville, NY; and five grandchildren, Brittany, Lindsey, Emily, Kyle and Carly.

A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11a.m. at the Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 5 until 7p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. All guests are required to wear a mask and special protocols will be in place to ensure saftey for everyone.
