Obituary of Robert A. Bonanno

   Mr. Robert A. Bonanno, 72, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam.

     Born in Amsterdam on May 25, 1947 a son of the late Barney and Catherine Timpani Bonanno.  He was a lifelong area resident and a 1965 Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. 

    Mr. Bonanno was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. 

He was employed for over 40 years at the General Electric Company in Schenectady NY retiring in 2009.

     He loved being with his family especially at picnics during the summer.  He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan.  Robert was well known in the community,  he was charismatic and will be missed by all who knew him.

     He married Dawn Kilinski LaPorte- Bonanno on July 6, 1996.  She passed away on February 29, 2016. 

     Survivors include his children, Holly (Frank) Gatto of Amsterdam, Tricia (Robert) Bonanno-Rinn of Sterling ,CT.   Dear Step-daughter,  April (Butch) Austin of Johnstown, NY.   Three cherished grandchildren, Storm Bonanno, Anja and Daniel Gatto.  Dear brothers and sister, Dave (Kathy) Bonanno of Amsterdam,  Gary (Deb Zepperi) Bonanno of Amsterdam and Dawn Bonanno of Amsterdam.    Nephews, Brian, Thomas  and Matthew Bonanno.  Great-nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
