Dean Glenn Salak

 

     Dean G. Salak, 62, of Broadalbin, NY, was suddenly stricken at home on September 11, 2020.  A lifelong resident, he was born in Amsterdam on September 28, 1957, to the late George and Jane (Fisher) Salak, and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School in 1975.          He was long employed and retired from NYS Department of Taxation and Finance as an IT Specialist, and later at GIANT Solutions of Amsterdam and O2 Solutions of Clifton Park. 

Dean is survived by his loving companion Janet Patrizio, siblings: David (Dee) Salak, Gregory Salak, Deborah (Glenn) Marek, and MaryBeth Renwick and step-mother Catherine Salakwho all reside locally. Also nephews Aaron (Emily) Tesiero of Ocala, Fl,  Daniel, Matthew, and Christopher Renwick, and niece Makenna Renwick, all of Amsterdam, and grandniecesSofia and Sarah Tesiero, Fl., many cousins and friends.

     Dean’s life has been an amazing celebration of family, friends, and experiences. He leaves each of us with everlasting memories. His deep sense of loyalty, honesty, and integrity was integral to the man he was and how he chose to experience life.  Dean attracted people like a magnet and once brought into his sphere, each became forever touched by him and became a part of the rich fabric of his life. This was especially true of those special people he held dear who also shared his passions for golf, skiing, and the SF and NY Giants.  All delighted in his wonderful cooking endeavors and discerning palette in beverages, stories of his adventures and travels, and his other varied interestsDean dearly missed his special pet, Jewels, who was the animal love of his life.

     The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 4:00-7:00PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. A Special Commemoration of Dean’s Life will be held at the end of the calling period on Wednesday.  Interment will be private.  Any and all who would like to share special thoughts, pictures, or memories with his family are welcomed and encouraged to do so.  These can be mailed to Catherine Salak, 122 Jones Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or emailed to: memoryofdean@gmail.com.    Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing and follow the NYS Guidelines for COVID19.
