Obituary of Andre A. Rattray

Andre A. Rattray, age 36, of Gloversville, died Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Albany Medical Center. He was involved in an accident while riding his motorcycle to work earlier that day in Johnstown.

He was born November 3, 1984, in Kingston, Jamaica. The son of Wessel Rattray and Susan Dennis. In 2003 Andre joined Hyde Park Christian Church, where he met and married his wife, Shaundel 2006. In 2008 they moved to Gloversville to continue to build a life together. He was employed by Walmart DC #6096 just shy of 10 years as a Loader/Desk Associate for A2 Dry Shipping. He touched many people’s lives with his sarcastic jokes, warm smile, and helping hand.

Andre is survived by his wife, Shaundel Rattray; six children, Tiara Walkes, Jacquelyn Rattray, Nicholas Rattray, Annaliese Rattray, Alesha Rattray, and Sierra Rattray; his mother, Susan Dennis; his father, Wessel Rattray; two sisters, Samantha Mighty and Ashley Mighty; three brothers, Joshua Cooke, Adrian Joseph, and Charles Maza; niece, Gabrielle Edouard; nephew, Terrance Edouard, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Jamaica. Andre was predeceased by his grandmother, Claire Dennis.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 4 pm Friday, July 30, 2021, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.  

A funeral service will occur at Hyde Park Christian Church, 875 E. 46th St; Brooklyn, NY, on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn.
