Obituary of Sherman J. Swank

Sherman J. Swank, 44, of Amsterdam passed away January 7, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Born in Gloversville on November 18, 1977 he is the son of the late Fonda Lea Ann (Ward) Swank.

Survived by his loving wife whom he married on June, 16, 2001 Melody A. (Birch) Swank of Amsterdam, two sons, Brian Swank of Circle Palm Harbor, FL and Michael Swank of Amsterdam. Brothers, Brian (Tracy) Reese of St. Johnsville and Joseph Hardy of Little Falls, two aunts, Judy Swartz and Shelley Ward both of St. Johnsville. Survived by his nieces, Amanda Fisher of Amsterdam and Samantha Reese of St. Johnsville, nephews, Jason Fisher of Amsterdam and Zachary Reese of St. Johnsville, a great nephew, Connor Varin of Amsterdam, and by many loving cousins. Sherman is also survived by his mother’s longtime companion, William Green, his best friend, Kevin Bowne, and his mother-in-law, Lois Birch.

During his lifetime Sherman enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family and friends. Sherman loved to watch the Bears, Bulls, Yankees, Notre Dame, and Syracuse play ball.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY  12010 on Friday January 14, 2022 from 12 noon to 1 pm with a 1 pm service here at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring time in the family plot of the Fairview Cemetery. Masks are required for all services.
