Obituary of Catherine Mary Dalmata

Catherine Mary Dalmata, age 92, of Caroga Lake died Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Nathan Littauer Extended Care in Gloversville surrounded by love & family.

She was born March 19, 1930 in the Town of Caroga, the daughter of the late Clarence and Hattie (Carpenter) Smith where she grew up and attended Wheelerville Union Free School.

On September 25, 1949 she married C. Phil Dalmata and together, in Caroga Lake, they raised 6 children.

In addition to mother & wife, Catherine was employed at a local phone company, Decca Records and finally 27 years as a school bus driver for Wheelerville School District.

She enjoyed shopping, dancing, car rides, eating, watching westerns and in recent months, doing puzzles with everyone that walked into her living room. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends and watching the photos that her family loaded to her Nixplay photo frame.

Catherine is survived by five children; Les Dalmata (Linda) of Poland, John Dalmata (Debby) of Johnstown, Tim Dalmata (Tina) of Ames, Todd Dalmata (Nancy) of Johnstown and Roxene Snell (Al) of Johnstown; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, C. Phil Dalmata; a daughter, Claudine Dalmata, and her siblings Eugene Smith and Margaret Babcock.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10am to 12 noon Monday, October 24, 2022 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

The family would like to extend a most sincere gratitude to the caring friends, aides and helpers that made it possible for her to stay in her home these past months. A special Thank you to the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department, who was always there, always extending quick and compassionate care.
