Obituary of Richard D. Snyder

Richard D. Snyder, 62, of Westford, NY passed away at Bassett Health Care on January 4, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 10, 1960, he is the son of the late Richard J. and Ella Mae (Manchester) Snyder.

Survived by brother Theodore A. Snyder of St. Johnsville, NY and sister Martha J. (Phillip) Congdon of Fultonville, NY. Survived also by his loving nieces and nephews Robert A. Borden, Cynthia (Jason) Macklin, Stacey A. Congdon, Amanda L. (Frank) Veeder and Jacob D. (Ashley) Snyder. Also survived by many cousins and great nieces.

Besides his parents Richard is predeceased by a sister Victoria L. Snyder and a nephew Christopher J. Borden.

During his lifetime Rich was born and raised in Fultonville and was a 1978 graduate of Fonda Fultonville Central School. Richard was a 25 year member of the  Aetna Engine Company, Fultonville, NY. Richard was a Machine Operator for Noteworthy in Amsterdam and most recently worked at Bassett Health Care in Cooperstown. Rich also worked for several horse stables, taking exceptional care of their horses. His passions were classic cars like his “First Gen” Camaro, riding motorcycles, his friends, and his faithful dogs. Rich will be in our hearts evermore.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Jackson & Betz Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072.

A Celebration of life service will take place at a later date and will be announced.

Richard’s family would like to make a special thank you to the care that was provided to Richard by a dear friend and Angel, R.N. Johanna Wilcox.
