Obituary of Elizabeth M. Savoie

Elizabeth M. Savoie, 85, of Amsterdam, passed away on March 15, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Amsterdam on November 14, 1937, she is the daughter of the late Samuel and Julia (Mazurkiewicz) Coalter.

She is survived by her sons Richard (Evelyn) Savoie, Rene Savoie, daughters Rebecca (Vince) Kowalczyk and Robin (Toni) Savoie and her baby boy Randy (Patty) Savoie. Her brother Robert (Robin) Coalter, nine grandchildren, twenty-one greatgrandchildren, and by her beloved pets Baci and Duckie. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, her sons Robert A. Savoie Jr; and Kevin L. Savoie, her sisters Evelyn O’Brien and Dolores Slezak, and her beloved cat Cedar.  

Single mother of six children, Elizabeth was a hardworking, proud and stubborn woman.  She was also known for her loving, kind and caring ways She had a heart of gold, loved everyone and always welcomed them into her home.  They never left hungry and always had a smile on their face.  Not only for people, but she also did the same for all animals and had a great love for all of them. She worked three jobs to support her family, loved writing poems for her family and friends. Enjoyed watching her oldest son Robert race Stock cars, and loved Wrestling, Nascar, Yankees Baseball and Lifetime Movies. She was known as Betty, Betty Boop and Greatest of all time “The Goat”. Elizabeth never forgot a birthday for any of her family or friends. During her lifetime, Elizabeth worked for Scafidi’s Restaurant, Coleco Hasbro, Amsterdam Printing, Mohawk Finishing and the Sacandaga Boat Club.

Jeanie, Kelly, Gabby and all the staff. Also, to the St. Mary’s Hospital ER Staff, RN’s Brittany and Mike R; Supervisor Gina, and the ICU and St. Theresa’s staff and Dr. Sheridan. An extra special thank you to her home health aides Savannah, Julie and Jackie for all their kindness and compassion, also to VNA Amy Ludwin, RN and RCIL, Jamie Dutcher for all their support and endless efforts. Our sincerest appreciation to our close family and friends for their love and support throughout this past year.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday March 24, 2023, at 6 pm at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with The Very Rev. Neal P. Longe, Rector.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
