Obituary of Robert M. Scanlon

Fultonville – Robert Michael Scanlon “Mike” passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 with his family by his side.

Mike was born and grew up in Manchester, England, son of Robert and Veronica, whom predeceased him. Mike is also predeceased by his sister, Barbara and brother, Gary.

Mike came to America in the early 70’s, where he worked for the city of Johnstown Public Works until his retirement in 2005. He also started and owned his own company, Adirondack Fence, for over 35 years, until his son, Bradley Scanlon took it over with the help of his brother, Ryan Scanlon and his son, Ryan Scanlon Jr. Mike was a hard working family man who always put his family first, he lived for his family, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family or friends; he gave them all, everything they ever wanted or needed. He was always busy, even after he retired, tending to his garden, the pool or vehicles; fixing anything that anybody needed fixed or maintained. He enjoyed his fishing trips, family parties and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Mike met the love of his life, Joann Moore Scanlon, they were married on August 11, 1979; they had 44 beautiful years together and share three children together. Mike was a very proud father of five, Lee Scanlon (Jennifer) and Paula Gallardo (Lou), who were born in England; Bradley Scanlon (Lori), Ryan Scanlon (Sam) and Ashley Gessinger (Josh); nine grandchildren, Conner, Stefen, Faith (Paula), Tatum (Lee), Ryan Jr., Corey, Alyssa (Ryan), Randy and Molly (Bradley); brother Geoff Alpert (Jofay); many nieces and nephews.

Mike will be missed but never forgotten. His love and memory will carry on through his beloved family, friends and everyone that knew him.

Mikes request was that services are private.
