Obituary of Eunice D. Bethel

Eunice D. Bethel was a beloved aunt and friend to many. She left this world on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Mountain Valley Hospice at the age of 93 years old.

She was born to the late Alton H. Sr. and Lula Mae (Henry) Dillenbeck. A lifelong resident of Fonda, Eunice graduated from Fonda High School, Class of 1947. She worked for the Montgomery County Clerk’s Office, after being employed for over 30 years, Eunice retired in 1990 as the Deputy County Clerk.

Eunice was known for her dedication and hard work. She loved to garden, refinish furniture and even a few homes of hers. Eunice had a love for writing poems, often times family, friends and her church family who asked her to read her poems at gatherings; even at her 50th school reunion she was able to write a special poem that she read aloud. Eunice was a member for over 80 years at the Fonda Reformed Church. Most of all, Eunice was so loved by all that knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Eunice was predeceased by her husband, Jack Bethel; her brother, Alton H. Dillenbeck, Jr. and her sister, Emma Mae Persse. Survived by her niece, Nancy Langdon (Bob); nephews, Tom Persse (Paul), John Dillenbeck and Scott Dillenbeck (Heather); great niece, Katie Bowler (Kevin) and their children, Matthew, Emma and Caleb.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 12noon at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, with Rev. Karen Patterson presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, 12078 or to a charity of your choice.

Eunice’s care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, 12072.
