Obituary of Shelby Shi Lynn Opalka

Shelby Shi Lynn Opalka, 21, gained her wings on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. 

Born on November 13, 2001, to the late Roxanne Opalka, in Amsterdam. Shelby was a graduate of Broadalbin Perth High School, Class of 2019. She was currently a full-time med student while working at Rite Aid in Gloversville as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and at The Rustic Loft in Amsterdam where she waitressed.  

Shelby was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all. 

Shelby is survived by her loving family, her sister, Josalynn Opalka; grandparents, Rhonda and Alfred Opalka; and her aunt, Tonya Opalka. Shelby was reunited with her boyfriend, Skyler Olmstead, who passed away on March 14, 2023. 

A celebration of Shelby's life with be held at the Rustic Loft, 4740 NY-30, Amsterdam on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2pm. 

Shelby's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger and Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
