Obituary of Bernard P. Sokolowski
Bernie Sokolowski, 78 of Clifton Park, NY, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Benita Sokolowski and a loving father to his daughter Sara and son Greg (Antoinetta) Sokolowski. He was a doting grandfather to Ally, Nick, and Lilliana. He is also survived by his sister Sandy (Scott) McKay. Bernie was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Rachel (Banewicz) Sokolowski.
He was a dedicated family man and founder of Sokolowski’s Greenhouses in Clifton Park, NY where he dedicated nearly 50 years of his life towards his passion for plants. Today his son Greg continues to manage the business.His grandson, Nick proudly represents the third generation of the Sokolowski family in the greenhouse industry.
In his spare time Bernie enjoyed family activities, travel, horse racing and sports; especially baseball and football. He had a green thumb and found joy in nurturing his plants and watching them thrive. His passion for horse racing, travel, and sports provided him with excitement and entertainment throughout his life. Reading and talking about history was also a passion of his.
Bernie will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his family and community business.His legacy lives on through his family and the thriving business he built. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 20, 2023 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at St. Edward the Confessor Church,569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30PM in the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. The family kindly requests donations to be made in Bernie’s memory to the Michael J.
