Clodomiro DeRossi

Obituary of Clodomiro J. DeRossi

Clodomiro (Claude) J. DeRossi, age 80, cherished husband, father, poppa, and friend, passed peacefully on Sep 22nd in the early morning after a long illness.  He was predeceased by his parents, Angelina and Rolando DeRossi and his brother, Daniel DeRossi.

He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Cynthia, his daughter Marialana, his son David (Kathleen), grandchildren Sarah and Nicholas, sister-in-law Lorri DeRossi, nieces Michele (Brandon) Perry and Gina DeRossi, aunt Jean Eliseo, many cousins, Godchildren and dear friends.

He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, NY.  An accomplished accordionist, he was awarded a full university scholarship to pursue music.  He opted instead to pursue a degree in business, attended Albany Business College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY.

Claude was a technology executive whose career included senior positions at General Electric Company and in New York State government, and as CEO and co-owner of C&C Computer Solutions, Inc., a technology company that he co-founded with his wife, grew tenfold and successfully sold.

He was a published author of several books on computer programming and information technology.  A select few were used by the General Electric Company as part of their Information Systems Management Program, a two-year, corporate technology leadership program which he co-sponsored with other GE executives.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and was at his happiest canvassing for 10-pointers in a tree stand or fly fishing in a trout stream.  He was a member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown, NY and Iroquois Rod and Gun Club in Schenectady, NY.  He made many special memories on hunting trips with his son and during countless hunting, fishing and golfing jaunts with lifelong friends from The Thomas Gang Sportsmen’s Club.  Always up for fun and fellowship, he also enjoyed regular lunches and poker games with friends.

He believed in supporting our youth, and enjoyed his roles as a Catholic Youth Organization basketball coach and Big Brothers / Big Sisters mentor.  He remained close for over 30 years with his “little brother”, Josh Horning, who became more like a second son, and Josh’s family.

He was community-minded and actively volunteered.  He was a member of the Rotary Club & Elks Club, and a Knights of Columbus Third-degree.  With his wife, he served on the Parish Council at the former St Michael’s Church in Amsterdam, NY and was a Bingo volunteer and Board Member at the former Bishop Scully High School in Amsterdam, NY.

He was a devoted family man who was ever so proud of his wife, children and grandchildren.  He could be found at every school concert & sporting event, and when asked what his greatest life accomplishment was, he would answer with a smile, “Marrying Cindy”.

He will be missed more than words can say but will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
