Obituary of Scott Allen Whitbeck

Mr. Scott Allen Whitbeck, 60, of Amsterdam, passed away on Sunday October 22, 2023 at his home in Canajoharie, NY.

Born on December 10, 1962 a son of the late John D. and Edith Marie Salmon Whitbeck II. He was a lifelong area resident and was with Liberty ARC for most of his life.

Scott had been a resident of both Amsterdam and later Canajoharie Liberty Homes. He was an avid Flintstone’s fan and loved celebrating Christmas all year long.

Scott was a participant in the Liberty Day Treatment program. He was well loved and cared for by his extended Liberty family. A special thank you to the Guardianship committee and Hospice for all they did for Scott in his last few days at home to keep him comfortable. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sister and favorite, Zandra "Bo" Godey of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews, cousins, housemates, and friends also survive.

Scott was predeceased by his brother, John Douglas Whitbeck and sister, Julie Ann McDonald who recently passed away on April 15th, this year and brother, John Robert Salmon.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday October 30, 2023 from 10:00  to 11:00AM prior to the funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. presiding. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam. Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com.
