Obituary of Deryk J. Sandmeier

Deryk Joseph “DJ” Sandmeier, born July 9, 1992, passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Alfred, FL on January 7, 2024.

A 2010 graduate of Broadalbin-Perth High School, DJ was active on the varsity softball team, as well as softball leagues at the former Robin’s Nest. DJ loved his 11-year career at Walt Disney World where he worked many different positions; he is remembered by his castmates as having an incredible work ethic and amazing guest appreciation.

He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Cabo San Lucas, and taking annual trips to Marco Island. DJ was an animal rescue advocate, and gave his whole heart to his two adopted dogs, Leela and Maggie. He is celebrated for his constant drive to have fun, and create lasting memories.

DJ is survived by his Mother, Michelle Morley Sandmeier (Tom Cislo); sister, Alycia Boncimino (Michael); grandparents, Mike & Linda Morley; Godparents, Pamela Sandmeier & Kevin Brennan; Uncle Gordon & Aunt Jannine Sandmeier, and many loving cousins. He is preceded in passing by his Father, Mark Sandmeier; grandparents, James & Madeline Sandmeier, and aunt, Sandra Grant.

Friends and family are invited, and may call on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from noon until 2:00PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. A service will follow the calling period, with Mother Laurie Garramone presiding.
