Pamela VanNostrand

Obituary of Pamela Sue VanNostrand

Pamela Sue VanNostrand also known as Pammie Sue, mom and grandma,64, of Delmar, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 at Albany Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer which she fought with all her strength until the end.

Pam was born on December 29th, 1959, in Gloversville, the daughter of Miles and Betty (Warner) Frasier. After graduating from Mayfield Jr. Sr. High School in 1977, she went on to study Nursing at FMCC, but had a greater calling to take care of her family and raise her children.  During this time, she had a passion for taking care of others and she filled a variety of roles in her jobs where she could do just that, take care of others by putting countless individuals before herself.  Some of these roles included being a teacher’s aide at HFM BOCES, helping take care of individuals for Capital District DDSO and working as a hospital aide at Fulton County Infirmary.  Later on in her life, Pam went back to work and spent the last two years of her life helping take care of residents at Beverwyck Retirement Community and at St Peter’s Hospital as a patient care technician.  Her coworkers were like a second family, and she spoke very fondly of her friends Adrianna and Kristen.  Even while in the hospital she had wanted to go back to work and advocate for her patients that she would see at St. Peter’s much like her nurses and doctor did at AMC.

But her greatest roll in life was being a mom and grandma.  Her world revolved around her three children Jessica, Amanda and Timmy and her grandchildren Dominic, Leah, Lilly, and Cora as well as her fur-baby Rebel.

When Pam wasn’t working she was usually in the kitchen baking and cooking or tending to her garden.   She loved to cook for family and close friends.  Her children would often bicker over who would get more of her raspberry thumbprints and chocolate jumbos.  She was strong-willed and stubborn, but those traits defined Pam. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges.  Pam also had an enormous heart and was a firecracker that kept everyone on their toes.  She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them- and if you knew her, you knew it. When her time came, she carried herself with spunkiness, strength, and full of love for those who went before her. She will be missed dearly.

Pam is survived by her mother, Betty Frasier; three children, Jessica Petoff, Amanda Oare (Stephen) and Timothy S. VanNostrand; four grandchildren, Dominic Bush, Leah VanNostrand, Lilly VanNostrand and Cora Oare; three siblings, Linda Wood (Bill), Joanne Lock and Chris Frasier (Anita); as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Miles Frasier.

The family would like to thank her MSK team Dr. Kriplani, Dr. Wilcox, Dr. Zinovoy, Robert Goodman as well as her doctor at AMC Dr.  Perlmutter and her neurological team and nurses on D5 for taking care of her during her stay before her passing.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville.

Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the spring at Mayfield Cemetery.
