Obituary of Susan C. Herba

Fonda-Susan C. Herba, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2024, at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.

Born on June 19, 1948, in Sherwood, Oregon, a daughter of the late Cyriel and Carol Steyaert.  

Sue, along with her husband, Ed, owned and operated Herba Sand & Gravel, a business they started together in 1969. Sue was an avid doll collector and owned The Doll Kingdom. 

Sue loved traveling, her favorite places to travel were the Pacific Northwest. She also loved sewing, baking, and spending quality time with her sons and grandkids. Sue will be best remembered for her integrity and hard-working personality which she used to help other people in need. She loved couponing and getting the best bang for her buck. 

Sue is predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Herba, Jr, who passed away on March 7, 2017; her brother, Roger Cyriel Steyaert. and sister, Phyllis Jo Elgin. 

Survivors include her sons, Edward (Chip) Herba III (Angela), Dr. Matthew Herba (Zuleida), and Christopher Herba (Kate); grandchildren, Carlie Ann, Ava Rose, Ezekiel Franklin, Leona Rae, Lillian Reed and Rosalie Eletta. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 5pm with Pastor Tim Florence presiding at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, where calling hours will be held prior beginning at 3pm.
