Obituary of Josephine Smith

Josephine Smith, 93, of Largo, Florida, passed away peacefully Sunday evening at Largo Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on Dec. 9, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina Nicolla Dabiere and was educated in Amsterdam Schools. She worked as a book keeper for a time, and later was a home maker, moving with her husband to Largo in 1996. In Amsterdam, she was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel parish and was a member of its seniors group. On August 2, 1941 she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Smith Jr., he predeceased her on July 26, 1996. She leaves her son Ronald D. Smith and his wife Helen of Maricopa, Az., daughter Jennifer and her husband Roger Jones of Warner Robins, Ga.; grandchildren; Matthew and Scott Smith, Douglas Jones, Heather King, and Kathryn Rehner; great grandchildren Harrison King, Ethan Rehner, and Kaden and Conor Smith; her sister Stella Meskoskey of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will take place on Monday Dec. 31, at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery. A calling period will commence on Monday from 8:30 to 10:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
