Obituary of June E. Simpson

Mrs. June E. Simpson, 86, of Amsterdam, passed away Monday evening May 3, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 31, 1923 a daughter of Albert and Bridie Crandall Arndt. She attended St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam. June worked as a sewing machine operator for many years at the former Millers Department Store and Adirondack Sportswear both in Amsterdam. She also worked for Manchester Modes in Connecticut and lived in Storrs, Connecticut for 15 years before returning to Amsterdam. She was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Church Relief Society. June married Lionel Simpson on February 1, 1965. In addition to her husband survivors include a daughter, Eileen Briggs of Amsterdam. One son Frederick Simpson and his wife Mary-Anna of Florida, NY. Two sisters, Marguerite Schedlbauer of Hagaman, NY and Levina Markes of Amsterdam. Grandchildren, Dennis Briggs Sr., Kenneth Briggs Sr., Katrina Heyer, June Marie Bottomly, Jessica Simpson, Carolyn Simpson and Toni-Lynn Simpson. Great-grandchildren, Kentishia Heyer, Michaela Heyer, Samantha Heyer, Blaze Post, Blake Post, Brooke Post, Dennis Briggs Jr., Cody Horowitz, Danielle Abraham, Kenneth Briggs Jr., Tiffany Bottomly, Michael Fisher III, Harley-Grace Fischer and Kylee-Lynn Rios. Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive. June was pre-deceased by a son-in-law Clayton Briggs. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 7, 2010 at 1:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. Interment will be in Perth Cemetery, Perth, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday May 7, 2010 from 11:00A.M. to 1:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in June's memory to a charity of one's choice c/o the funeral home.
