Obituary of William H. Somers

William H. Somers, Jr., 64 of East Main Street Amsterdam, NY, passed away Tuesday evening April 27, 2010 with his loving wife at his side. He was born August 20, 1945 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the son of the late William H. and Rita Catherine Farrell Somers. Bill was formerly of Chesterville, Ohio before moving to this area just 5 months ago with his wife Mary Lee. He was in the United States Navy, Honorably discharged in 1970. After being in the Navy Bill was a certified A-1 Computer Technician, as well as working many years as a Certified Motorola Service Technician. In the few years prior to his retirement he worked as a Computer Technician for various entities. He also enjoyed working on the computers as a hobby, along with writing, editing and publishing works of literature. Bill enjoyed playing music on his guitar and flute, as well as listening to jazz and Christian music. He was currently a member of the Jubilee Fellowship Church. His loving family includes his wife Mary Lee Matty Somers of Amsterdam, NY, his step children, Gerald Monaco, Erin Monaco, Eva Monaco, Rozanne Monaco, Linda Colleran all of Michigan, Valerie Smith and Angela Monaco of Louisiana. His brothers, Gerrard Somers and Thomas Somers both of Michigan; his sisters Marianne Somers, Peggy Somers and Kathleen Robertson. Several grand children, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services for Bill at this time will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010.
