Obituary of Jennie Belardi

Jennie Palamara Belardi, 99, formerly of Hayes Place, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at the Van Duyn Nursing Home in Syracuse after a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 11, 1911, she was the last surviving daughter of the late Antonio and Guiseppina Lauricella Palamara. She came to Amsterdam as a young child and was educated locally. Jennie was employed for a time by the Naval Supply Depot in Scotia, Amsterdam Printing Co., Chalmers and Montco Manufacturing. She was a parishioner of the former St. Michael The Archangel Church and a member of it's Santa Marina Society. Jennie will be lovingly remembered by her family as a kind, considerate and thoughtful person who had a keen mind until the end. Her husband, Samuel P. Belardi predeceased her in 1979. Her brother Martin Palamara , and sisters Lena Marvin, Rose LaBate, Ernestine Pozniak and Josephine Moskal also predeceased her. Her loving family includes her son Michael and his wife Jayne Belardi of Baldwinsville; daughter Mary Jo Price of Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughters, Cara Belardi and Jessica Price and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services are Monday April 5th at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:15 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday after 9:00 am at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Van Duyn Home and Hospital, and sent to the funeral home in Amsterdam, New York 12010. The contributions will be given to the Activities Department in Jennie's memory. Jennie's family is most grateful to the Van Duyn staff on 5 South for the wonderful care she received at the home these past two years.
