Obituary of Robert Anthony Capozzelli

Robert Anthony Capozzelli, 67, of Forbes Street, Amsterdam, passed away Friday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness. Born January 20, 1943, in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Nicholas D. and Gilda Lucido Capozzelli. Bob was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1962, and was a graduate of the Spencer Business School in Schenectady. When he was drafted into the US Army, Bob served as a communication tech in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was first employed at the JM Fields department store where he served as manager for the men's clothing and men's shoe departments. Bob later worked for Wal-mart in Gloversville for a few years. He then went on to own and operate Sunset Global Carpet Cleaning in Amsterdam. During which time he started the Sunset Global Ice Cream Truck, which operated throughout Amsterdam, served at many of the functions at Shuttleworth Park and could be seen at many city events. For seven years he owned and operated The Corner Stone Family Restaurant by Battchellerville Bridge until his retirement. Christmas was Bob's favorite Holiday. He enjoyed the Spirit of Christmas, including shopping and decorating. Bob was a devoted member of the Jubilee Fellowship Church on East Main Street. He enjoyed videotaping sermons at the church and giving them out to parishioners and those in need. He also enjoyed recording church activities and community events. Bob enjoyed landscaping. He liked helping elderly people in the community with their landscaping and lawns. He is survived by three brothers Joseph Capozelli Kiku Okinawa, Japan, Nicholas J. Capozzelli of Selkirk, NY and Gerald Capozzielli Marie of Cohoes, NY; a niece Natalie Capozelli of Cohoes, NY; Aunt Florence Francolino of Schenectady, NY; Uncle Joseph DeMico of Georgia; Aunt Nina Bardascini of Amsterdam; Aunt Mary DeSorbo of Utica, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 11am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, with Rev. Harlow Gordon officiating. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery in Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Jubilee Fellowship Church, C/O funeral home to help the less fortunate.
