Obituary of Anna Z. Moore

Mrs. Anna Z. Moore, 83, of East Main St., Fonda, NY, passed away Friday February 19, 2010 at her home with her loving family and close friends at her side. Born in Fonda, NY on October 23, 1926 a daughter of the late John and Florence Luciano Zannitto. She was a lifelong Fonda resident and was a graduate of Fonda High School. Mrs. Moore worked from 1949 to 1974 in various glove mills in the Fonda-Fultonville area and served on the Fonda-Fultonville Central School Board for over 21 years. While on the school board she held the offices of Vice President and President. Anna was very active in the School Districts Centralization and building of the High School, Middle School and Elementary School. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda and was member of the church's Altar Rosary Society and served on the Parish Council. Anna was devoted to her faith as a member of the St. Thomas Third Order of Secular Franciscans. Mrs. Moore was also a member of the Glen-Mohawk and Iroquois Seniors. She also was a member of the former Fonda-Fultonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 13 years and was a dispatcher for 10 years. Anna was a member of the VFW # 562 Ladies Auxiliary and Johnstown's Women of the Moose. Mrs. Moore also dedicated time to the Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, PTA and Booster Clubs. Anna married Howard Moore Sr. on June 26, 1948. He passed away on August 31, 1988. She is survived by two sons, Howard Moore Jr. and his wife Linda of Fonda, NY. Jonathan P. Moore and his wife Nancy of Fonda, NY. One daughter, Florence A. Stanton of Fonda, NY. Four sisters, Carrie Compani, Mary Grasso, Mildred Palleschi and Dolores Wohlgemuth. Six grandchildren, Howard Moore III, Lisa Moore, Anna Stanton, Emily Moore, Elizabeth Moore and Amee Moore. Six Great-Grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Howard IV, Keisha, Kylee and Nathaniel. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Angie Carbone, Joseph Zannitto, Peter Zannitto Catherine Zannitto and Josephine Marx. Anna was also predeceased by a son-in-law Francis Stanton on September 21, 2005. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 24, 2010 at 9:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00A.M. at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Broadway, Fonda, NY with Rev. Patrick Gallagher OFM Conv. Interment will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday February 23, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wells House, Glen Mohawk Seniors or to the Iroquois Seniors c/o the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home.
