Obituary of George J. Capone

Mr. George J. Capone, 69, of Amsterdam, passed away Monday morning February 8, 2010 at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 11, 1940 a son of the late Enrico and Viola Petrillo Capone. He was a resident of Brooklyn and Long Island for most of his life and attended St. Ambrose school in Brooklyn. Mr. Capone worked for himself most of his life as an Antique Dealer. He most recently moved to the Amsterdam area four years ago working at his family's business Capone's Vault. He was a communicant of the former St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church and St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church both in Amsterdam. He married Barabra Santore Capone on August 21, 1965. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Mark A. Capone and his fiancé Stacey Djernes of Amsterdam. One daughter, Gail-Sue Capone of Long Island, NY. Three brothers, Louis, Alfred and Raymond Capone. Two sisters, Joanne Handley and Sue Heckel. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. George also leaves behind his beloved cat "Ashes". Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 8:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30A.M. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Cornell St., Amsterdam with Father David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday February 11, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home.
