Obituary of Violet B. Fitzsimmons

Violet B. Fitzsimmons, 95, a resident of River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam died peacefully Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Schenectady, NY December 1, 1914 a daughter of the late Harry and Blanche Crum Teetsel. Violet was a life resident of the area, and was a recent communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married Eward J. Fitzsimmons in Schenectady on December 3, 1942. Following 51 years of marriage, Edward predeceased her on February 1, 1993. Violet was a loving home maker who enjoyed many years raising her seven children. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her loving family includes her children Gloria DeNice and husband Robert of Schenectady, Rose Fitzsimmons of Amsterdam, Edward Fitzsimmons of Providence, RI, Patricia Brasmeister and husband Roy, Sr. of Pattersonville, Cathy Fitzsimmons and life partner Charles Manning of Providence, RI, Paul Fitzsimmons of Amsterdam and Brian Fitzsimmons and wife Sandy of Northport, FL, her grandchildren Denise Frederick and husband Timothy of Climax, Michele Brown of Schenectady, Violet DeSantis and husband Darren of Broomall, PA, Kelly Harrington and husband James of Rotterdam, Tina Cieszynski and husband Heath of Duanesburg, Roy Brasmeister, Jr. of Pattersonville, Ezekiel Brasmeister of Pattersonville, Jane LaPierre of Northport, FL and Cindy Hewitt of Schenectady, and her great-grandchildren, Aidan, Cory, Joseph, Cristina, Patricia, Elise, Kyle, Kayley, Katelynn, Gary, Brenna, Candice, Thomas and Kaylea. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents and husband, Violet was predeceased by her sister Ethel Ketcham, and her brothers Harry, Donnie, George, Mansfield, Milford, Robert and Stanley Teetsel. Services will be at 11:00AM on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY with Fr. Brian List, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to services on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Route 30, Minaville. Contributions in Violet's memory may be made to Liberty Ent., 43 Liberty Drive, Amsterdam, NY or to the Salvation Army, 267 Market St., Amsterdam, NY.
