Obituary of Marion R. Gray Wells

Marion R. Gray Wells, 77, of State Street, Fort Plain, NY died peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2010 at home. Born on May 28, 1932 on Spring Street in Fort Plain, she was the daughter of the late LaVerne and Noreena Westpy Rice. A lifelong resident of Fort Plain, Marion was employed as a night cleaner for LifeSavers in Canajoharie and also worked for Mid County as a dispatcher for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a "Mom". Marion had a keen business sense and was always good hearted. She also enjoyed traveling, playing pinochle online, woodcarving and just simply enjoying life and her family. Marion was predeceased by her husbands, Carl Gray, Sr. and Charles Wells; her sister, Elizabeth Rice; and her brother Richard Rice; and a daughter in law, Barbara Gray. Survivors include her children, Carl Gray, Jr. of Fort Plain, NY; daughters, Darlene Spaulding and her husband Dale of Canajoharie, NY, Loretta Reid and her husband Michael of Fort Plain, NY and foster daughter Eletha Cook of Fort Plain, NY; her sisters, Norma Borst and her husband Gordon of Fort Plain, NY, Linda Hoffman and her husband Leonard of Johnstown, NY; her sister in law, Francine Rice of Rockland County, NY; eight grandchildren, Carl Gray III, Kelly Mayton, Chief Petty Officer, Robert Jessica Gray, Cheryl John Rachon, Maggie Plant, Brandy Robert Plant, Michael Reid, Clorissa Reid; ten great grandchildren, Walter, Tyler, Christopher, Chloe, Cassie, Robert, Heather, Cody, Zoe, Dale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 11 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman presiding. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 2 until 5 on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Freysbush Cemetery at a later date.
