Obituary of Walter J. Scott

Walter J. "Buddy" Scott, 59, of Evelyn Avenue, passed away Friday evening at his home after a sudden illness. Born in Amsterdam on March 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Walter and Alice Schleski Scott. He graduated from St. Mary's Institute, Bishop Scully High School Class of 1967 and later Hudson Valley Community College. He later attended Union College. Buddy was employed for ten years by the General Electric Company in Schenectady and later was the owner and operator of Tech Comm. Associates, a computer consulting firm. He had a lifelong passion for dancing, and was a dance instructor in the Capitol District earning the title of "Scotty Swing". He had a brilliant mind and photographic memory. Buddy was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He leaves his sisters; Cheryl Scott and her husband Richard Koch of Amsterdam; and Dawn Rufer and her husband James of Hagaman; his nephew Ryan Senecal of Hagaman and several cousins and friends. Services are Wednesday at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Shrine, St. Mary's Cemetery. A calling period will commence at 8:30 am Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to St. Mary's Institute in care of the funeral home office.
