Obituary of Ila Jean Querbes

Mrs. Ila Jean Querbes, 88, of Hillside Place Apts. in Johnstown, died Saturday evening. Born April 29, 1921 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Burt and Emma D. Van Duesen Graff. Known throughout her life as Jean, Mrs. Querbes was a 1938 graduate of Gloversville High School. Jean was first married to Robert Klock who pre-deceased her in 1972. She subsequently married Paul Querbes in 1976, he pre-deceased her in 2001. Jean was a cashier at the former A&P Supermarket for more than 20 years. She also worked at St. Thomas retiring in 1983. A long time member of the Foothills United Methodist Church, she taught adult Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Women for many years. A very loving and caring person, Jean was devoted as a volunteer. For many years she volunteered at meals on wheels, the mental health clinic and WIZR radio Telethon for St. Jude, and with mailings. Her greatest joy was to be with her family. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include her children: Linda Howland of Gloversville, Charlene Robert Milnekiewicz of Fly Creek, N.Y. and Dale Diana Klock of Gloversville. She is survived by a step-daughter Paulette Lizotte and a step-son James Querbes of Greenfield Center, N.Y. Jean has six grandchildren: Stephanie Mansfield, Robert Klock, Warren Klock, Valerie Wilson, Tracy Howland, and Loren Brown. Her great grandchildren are: Andrew Wilson, Adam Wilson, Brandon Brown and Alexis Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Querbes was pre-deceased by two brothers; Robert D. Graff and Donald Graff. Funeral services will be conducted 3 pm Wednesday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville with Reverend Cynthia Van Allen, Pastor of Foothills United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1-3 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
