Obituary of Beatrice M. Handy

Mrs. Beatrice M. Handy, age 105, formerly of Gloversville, died Wednesday morning, December 9, 2009 at the E.L. Wilkinson RHCF, Amsterdam where she has resided since 1988. She was born August 24, 1904 in Benson, NY; the daughter of the late Forrest and Helen Hogan Manzer. She was employed in the cafeteria at both Park Terrace and McNab schools in Gloversville until her retirement at the age of 70. She was a member of the Foothills United Methodist Church and the Fulton County Bowler's Hall of Fame. She was married to James S. Handy who died in 1965. Survivors include four children, Janice Intelisano of Tribes Hill, Richard A. Handy Dolly of Johnstown, Donald L. Handy Shirley and James E. Handy Sharon of Gloversville; eight grandchildren, Danny Intelisano, Nancy Edwards Wendell, James Steve Handy Barbara, Kathy Ryan Timothy, Ann Marie Ferraro Michael, Richard Handy Kelly, Matthew Handy and Sherry Hayward Dave; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Robert J. Handy, in 2002. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7pm Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a funeral service will follow at 7pm with the Rev. Cynthia Van Allen officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
