Obituary of Frank J. Salvatore

Frank J. Salvatore, age 81, of Gloversville passed away on Saturday November 28, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Gloversville on January 2, 1928 the son of the late Joseph and Angeline Diciero Salvatore. Frank was a life long resident of Gloversville. He graduated from Gloversville High School, worked at a few local tanneries, and went on to own and operate Frank's West End Grocery. On May 27, 1951 Frank married Jeanette Garguilo Salvatore and shared over 50 years together until her passing in 2004. Frank was an avid bowler and enjoyed any game involving playing cards. He loved the New York Yankees and the old western movies. Frank also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. Frank is survived by a son: Joseph F. Salvatore Teri of Gloversville, three grandchildren: Michael J. Salvatore Jamie of New Hampshire, Anthony Salvatore of New Hampshire and Jenna L. Salvatore of Gloversville and two sisters: Lena Christiano and Anne Gentile. In addition to his wife Jeanette and his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a daughter Gloria R. Freeman and a sister Irene Rizzo. Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Monday November 30, 2009 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home on Tuesday December 1, 2009 at 10:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Spirit; 149 South Main Street; Gloversville. The mass will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Frank to the American Diabetes Association; 2 Pine West Plaza, Suite 204; Albany, NY 12205.
