Obituary of Ruth E. Haynes

Ruth E. Haynes 101, former resident of the Amsterdam High Rise Apartments passed away Friday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility where she has resided for the past three years. Born July 12, 1908 in Scotch Bush, New York she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Ada Kranka Grade. She attended school in Scotch Bush. Ruth was employed by the Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills in Amsterdam for 18 years and later was employed as an electronic assembler in Rochester, New York an San Diego, California for 11 years until moving back to Amsterdam in 1979. She was a member of the Hi- Low Senior citizens and a former member of the Perth Bible Church. Ruth loved to crochet and work on her puzzle books. On October 26, 1935 she married Harold Haynes who passed away September 6, 1995. She was also predeceased by her two brothers Earl and George Grade, a sister Beatrice McCleary and a nephew Phil Rifenburgh Survivors include her two nephews, George McCleary of Fort Johnson and David Grade and his wife Mary Ann of the Town of Florida; two nieces, Helen Woods of Satellite Beach, Florida and Ann Chaverria of California; and a nephew Don Witzel of Nevada; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009, at 12:00 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Burial will take place in the Broadalbin- Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 11am to 12 noon at the funeral home and a legacy candle ceremony will be celebrated at 11:30. Memorial contributions may be made to GAVAC., P.O.
