Obituary of Edna J. Pierce

Edna J. Walsh Pierce, 83, formerly of the Stratton Apartments, passed away peacefully Friday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with her loving family at her side. Born in Charleston, NY on Jan. 27, 1926, the daughter of Ralph and Alice Gordon Walsh, she lived here her entire life. Edna was employed by Esquire Novelty as an assembler for a time. A wonderful home maker, she will lovingly be remembered as the proud matriarch of her large family especially by her grandchildren. Edna was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Kenneth predeceased her in 1969. She leaves her daughters; Ella Mae Pierce Basset and her husband Robert of Fort Johnson, and Barbara Ann Pierce DeRonda of Schenectady; sons; Thomas Pierce and Francis and his wife Mary Pierce all of Perth; sisters; Florence Walsh- Waite of Ashland, Va., Muriel Walsh-Schlicht of Schenectady, Roselyn Walsh-Dybowski of Amsterdam, Wanetta Walsh-Klingbeil of Pa., and Laura Walsh-Zagata of Ballston Spa; brothers; William H. Walsh of Amsterdam, Ralph A. Walsh of Virginia; Charles M. Walsh of Fort Johnson; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and two great -great grandchildren; Edna was predeceased by a daughter; Donna M. Pierce and a son, Kenneth Pierce Jr., brothers Raymond, Harold and Ward Walsh, sisters; Mildred, Rose Marie Walsh and Dorothy Vinehout. Services are Wednesday at noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Cynthia Leonard, officiating. Interment is in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. A calling hour will precede the service at 11 am at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to either the Perth or Fort Johnson Volunteer Fire Departments, both in care of the funeral home office
