Obituary of Kathleen Arata

Kathleen Arata, age 92, of Niskayuna, passed away at her residence on Thursday November 12, 2009. She was born in Newark, NJ on July 19, 1917 the only daughter of the late John and Catherine Donegan Wilson. Kathleen graduated high school from Kearny High School in New Jersey and went on to attend Seton Hall where she earned her bachelors degree. On June 13, 1942, Kathleen married Warren J. Arata Sr. and they shared 48 years united in marriage until his passing on August 9, 1990. She was of the Catholic faith and was a communicant of the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham, NY. Kathleen loved to quilt and sew. She also enjoyed reading. She was a life long fan of the New York Yankees. Kathleen is survived by her two children: Warren "Chip" Arata Jr. Patti of Broadalbin and Jane Bewsher Mike of Watervliet, six grandchildren: Rachel, Ethan, Eli, Sara, Hannah, and Nora, as well as one great granddaughter: Pearl. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her husband Warren Sr., she was preceded in death by her four brothers: John "Jackie" Wilson, Gerard Wilson, Leonard Wilson and Lawrence Wilson. Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Monday November 16, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home; 85 West Main Street; Broadalbin. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday November 17, 2009 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Broadalbin. The Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Morrette. Interment will be in Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin.
