Obituary of Jeannette M. McMorris

Mrs. Jeannette M. McMorris, 90, of Old Trail Road, Tribes Hill, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Albany Medical Center. Born on January 6, 1919 in North Harpersfield, NY she was the youngest daughter of the late Burton J. Mattice and Grace Kinch Mattice. Jeannette along with her husband, Ken, owned and operated Ken's Esso and Lawn and Garden Equipment. She was an active member of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church serving as an elder, past deacon and was a member of the Westminster Guild. Jeannette was also a founding member of the Iroquois Seniors; a charter member of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Montgomery County Volunteer Firemen Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her daily walk at the Riverfront Centre and being an independent woman centered in her faith. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. In 1937 she was united in marriage to Kenneth S. McMorris; that union lasted 36 years until his passing in 1973. She was also predeceased by her two sons, Kenneth Jr. and Anthony McMorris; and her siblings, Anthony, Robert, Orson, Harriett, Charlotte and Douglas. Survivors include her dear friends, the Douglas family; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and her church family. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11 o'clock at the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Stamford Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 1 until 3 on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church or Community Hospice of Amsterdam in care of the funeral home office.
