Obituary of Evelyn G. Stuneck

Johnstown/Fulton County Evelyn G. Stuneck, 90, of Michael Circle, formerly of Fairfield CT, passed away peacefully Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Bridgeport, CT September 14, 1919 a daughter of the late Julius and Louise Hoff Walter. Evelyn was raised in Bridgeport and attended schools in that area. She married Frederick A. Stuneck of Milford, CT on June 6, 1948. The couple spent most of their married years residing in Fairfield, CT before moving to the Amsterdam area in the early 1980's. While in Fairfield, Evelyn worked for Remington Products for several years. Evelyn was of the Lutheran faith and was a communicant and member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the Faithful Followers of the church, where she enjoyed group activities and volunteering her time. Evelyn's interests included bowling in earlier years, cooking, volunteering, helping others and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. Her loving family includes her daughter and son-in-law Linda J. and Curtis Saj of Broadalbin, and her grandchildren Melissa and Brandon Saj of Broadalbin and Shari of Broadalbin. Her three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 2002, one brother Fred Walter and two sisters Pauline Carty and Dorothy LaBrenz. Funeral Services will be at 3:00PM on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY with Rev. Dr. John A. Califano, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to services on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 12:00PM at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT.
