Obituary of Victoria Dmyszewicz Smith

Victoria Smith, 90, formerly of the Amsterdam High Rise Apartments, Amsterdam, NY passed away Wednesday October 28th, 2009 at Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam. Born in Hagaman, NY on October 5, 1919 a daughter of Anthony and Felicia Wilkiewicz Dmyszewicz. She was raised in the Amsterdam area and attended local schools. She moved to Schenectady in 1941 and lived there for 20 years. Victoria moved to Victor N.Y. in 1964 returning back to the area in 1984. She was the owner and operator of The Stable's Steak House Restaurant in Victor, N.Y. before retiring in 1979. She was a communicant of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman and was a member of the HiLo club at the Amsterdam High Rise Apartments. She married Robert L. Smith on July 20, 1955. He passed away in 1992. Survivors include her twin sister, Apolonia ?Abbie? Slezak Chester of Amsterdam, NY. Several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Wall and Frances M. Dmyszewicz and one brother, Raymond Dmyszewicz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday November 2nd 2009 at 10:00A.M. at St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church, Pawling St., Hagaman, NY with Father Martin DeRose as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday morning prior to the Mass from 8:30A.M .to 9:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Memorial contributions may be made to Palliative Care c/o St. Mary?s Hospital Foundation, 427 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Office For the Aging, P.O. Box 52, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
