Obituary of Eleanor E. Russo

Mrs. Eleanor E. Russo, age 85 of Gloversville, NY, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. She was born October 10, 1924 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Angelo and Carmella Papa Ermie. She graduated form Gloversville High School in 1942. Mrs. Russo was employed as a legal secretary for 50 years. She first worked in the law of office of Attorney Arthur Aulisi, and continued to work for him as Gloversville City Judge, Assistant Fulton County District Attorney and District Attorney, Fulton County Judge and New York State Supreme Court Justice until his sudden death in 1979 for a total of 40 years. Following Judge Aulisi's death she worked in the office of Fulton County Attorney Charles Caputo for an additional ten years. Mrs. Russo was a member of the Church of The Holy Spirit, the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary, the Gloversville Lions Auxiliary and the Fulton County Republican Club. She was married to Arthur C. Russo on June 6, 1948. Mr. Russo died January 27, 1985. Survivors include her son, Dr. Arthur R. Russo and his wife Venetta of Sturbridge, MA; a sister, Jennie "Connie" Piazza and her husband Roy of Laguna Hills, CA; a granddaughter, Angela Russo of Brighton, MA; her companion of many years, Joseph Fiorito of Johnstown; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Doris Ermie, Charles Ermie and Eugene Ermie. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 26 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 161 S. Main St; Gloversville. The Rev. Thomas Morrette will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
