Obituary of Walter Sluzas

Walter Butch Charles Sluzas has entered into the hands of our Lord on October 23, 2009 at the Wilkinson Healthcare Facility where he had been a patient for the past five years. Walter was the son of the late Walter C. Sluzas, Captain, USA and Jeanette Maselli Sluzas. He attended St. Mary's School for the Deaf in Buffalo, NY from the age of 3 years to 18 years. Walter also was a graduate of the Roberts Barber School in Buffalo, NY and practiced the trade in local barber shops. During his lifetime Walter was also employed at Coleco Ind., Bojud Knitting Co., and Liberty Enterprises. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. Walter developed a passion for oil painting in the abstract genre and was privileged to have a one man show at the Schenectady Museum. Several of his works hang in the St. Mary's School for the Deaf. Walter was the beloved brother of Jean Ronald Wierzbicki, of Amsterdam, and uncle to Mark Victoria Grippi, Steven Kristie Grippi, and Cindi Grippi all from California, and Liese Leone of Nevada. He was great uncle to Anthony, Chelsea, Katherine and Mitchell Grippi of California. Walter also leaves behind several aunts and cousin, Helen Thomas Restino, of Hoosick Falls, NY, Olive Sluzas of Cambridge NY and John Phay Simeone of Tribes Hill, NY along with several great nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 28, at 11:00 am at St Mary's Church 156 Eat Main Street. Relatives and friends are invited. There are no calling hours and interment will take place in Bennington, Vt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Church in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, to whom his family has entrusted his arrangements
