Obituary of Aubrey D. Selden

Fultonville/Montgomery County Aubrey D. "Bud" Selden, 85, of St. Hwy 30A in the Town of Glen, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born in Lee Center, NY June 23, 1924 a son of the late Lyle and Georgia Beasley Selden. Bud was a US Army veteran of WWII where he served in the 534th Engineering Boat and Shore Regiment. Following his discharge he worked at Revere Brass and Copper in Rome, NY. He then attended Cornell University where he trained first as a milk tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc. and subsequently as an artificial inseminator. He moved to the Town of Glen in 1961 where he worked on various farms in the area as an artificial inseminator until his retirement in 1986. He married the former Jane Elizabeth Francis, daughter of Willard and Florence Francis on Oct. 22, 1942. She predeceased him Sept. 29, 2001. Bud was a consistory member of the Glen Reformed Church where he was very involved. He was also a former Assessor for the Town of Glen, a former member of the Glen Vol. Fire Dept., and had served on the Glen Cemetery Assoc. Board for many years. Bud loved to fish, hunt, bowl and bet on horses. He also enjoyed his morning breakfast gatherings with his friends at McDonald's in Fultonville and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. His loving family includes his three sons, Gary Selden and wife Lee of Alamogordo, NM, Lynn Selden and wife Lisa of Glen, NY and Thomas Selden and wife Claudia of Glen, NY, his brother Elton Selden of Camden, NY, his grandchildren, Yvonne Selden-Welz, Sarah Wilson-Sparrow, Robyn Selden-Gerin, Meredith Selden-Lapoti, Shelly Selden-Morse, Wesley Selden, Emily Selden-Fonda, Valerie Selden, Jeffrey Selden and April Selden, and his great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ethan, Tessa, Anthony, Jr., Madison, Kal El, Stefan, Alexander, Krista, Aimee, Amanda and Jane. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents and his wife, Bud was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Selden-Clark and Joyce Selden-Corteaux. Services will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Glen Reformed Church, Route 161, Glen, NY. Interment will follow in the Glen Cemetery, Logtown Rd., Fultonville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY.
