Obituary of Vincenza Barletta

Vincenza Barletta , 83, of East Main Street, Fonda, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at her home with her loving family at her side. Born in Sezze Latina, Italy on January 10, 1926, she was the daughter of Giuseppe and Teresa Molinari. Educated in Italy, she came to this country in 1950, settling first in Mechanicville. She moved to the Amsterdam area in 1955 and has been a resident of Fonda for a number of years. A wonderful home maker, Vincenza loved to cook and garden . She loved to travel, especially back to her native land, Italy. Vincenza remained active her entire life, keeping up to date with all her family's activities. Her gentle smile and kindness to all will be lovingly remembered and truly missed. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church. On January 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to Salvatore Barletta. That union lasted for nearly forty eight years until his passing on January 4, 1998. In addition to her beloved husband, a sister, Luigia Testa predeceased her. Her loving family includes her children; Alexander Kimberly Barletta of Greenville, N.C., Teresa Anthony Cannarella of Berryville, Va., Stella Bruce Zanella of Tribes Hill, and Mary Joseph Sowers of Hurricane, W. Va.; and her sister, Amelia Testa of Pontinia, Italy; Vincenza was a wonderful "grandma" to Joseph Cannarella, Lori Barletta, Melissa Zanella, Matthew and Ashley Sowers, Sophia and Salvatore Barletta; and great "nona" to Silvia and Alyssa Cannarella; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Prayer service is set for Saturday at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue Amsterdam, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia's Church, Broadway, Fonda. Fr. Patrick Gallagher, OFM Conv. Celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Amsterdam. Contributions may be made in her name to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, in care of the funeral home office.
