Obituary of Frank J. Banovic

Mr. Frank J. Banovic, 80, of Oswego St., Utica, NY and formerly a resident of the Johnstown, NY area, passed away Thursday August 6th, 2009 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica following a brief illness. Born in Johnstown, NY on May 31, 1929 a son of Frank and Anna Pollak Banovic. Mr. Banovic was raised in Johnstown and was a graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. Frank was employed for over 30 years at the General Electric Company in Utica where he worked as a Senior Radio Engineer. He won many awards and secured numerous patents for his work designing radios while at G.E. Mr. Banovic was well versed and could speak six different languages. He took many college credits to further his education. He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and being around the water. He was a family man and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. Frank was of the Roman Catholic Faith. He was a member of the VFW in Utica, NY. He married Florence Andrews Banovic . In addition to his wife survivors include four sons, John, Richard, Frank Banovic of Utica, NY and Steven Banovic of Marcy, NY. One brother, Stan Banovic of Johnstown, NY. Seven grandchildren Nicole, Lauren, John, Adam, Leslie, Taylor and Skylor Banovic. Two great grandchildren, Savanna and Lillian Banovic. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 11, 2009 at 11:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville NY with Rev. Pascal Iannotti presiding. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday August 10th, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice care of the funeral home.
