Obituary of Crawford G. Argotsinger

Crawford G. Argotsinger, 89, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his residence in Mayfield, with his family by his side. He was born in Gloversville on October 9, 1919, the son of the late Burton and Addie Griffis Argotsinger. A lifelong native to the area, he owned and operated a poultry farm in Gloversville. Crawford was very active in the farm bureau. He was also an avid bowler, having bowled in several leagues. Crawford was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin. He married the former Myrabelle Grace Docksey on May 11, 1946. They raised five children together and were married fifty-two years until she died on October 28, 1999. Survivors include four children: Richard B. Argotsinger Elizabeth of Gloversville, Nancy A. Noonan Shannon of Fonda, Mary Jo Argotsinger of Gloversville and James C. Argotsinger of Berkley, CA; a brother, Berlin Argotsinger Leona of Gloversville; two sisters, Thelma Argotsinger of Broadalbin and Edna Tryanna Richard of Amsterdam; a daughter-in-law, Susan Argotsinger of Broadalbin; a sister-in-law, Mary Robbins of Port Charlotte, FL; six grandchildren: Amy, Andrew, Chad, Brian, Mary Beth and Ashley and three great-grandchildren: Austin, Aden and Lila. He was predeceased by a son, Mark D. Argotsinger in 2008. His brother Clinton and his sister Marion Argotsinger also died before him. Visitation will be Monday July 27 from 4 to 7 pm at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin, NY. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11am from the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin with the Rev. Linda Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church; 54 West Main Street; Broadalbin, NY 12025 or to Mountain Valley Hospice; 108 Steele Avenue; Gloversville, NY 12078.
