Obituary of David W. Forsey

David W. Forsey, 62, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 7, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with a long illness. He was born March 25, 1947 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Andrew and Ruth Delarm Forsey, Sr. David was in the Peace Corps from 1966 to 1967. He was a self employed roofer for the Forsay Roofing Co. for forty years. David was a member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge #341, the Gloversville VFW Post #2077 and numerous local fish and game clubs. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who had a love for the great outdoors. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. David married Marie Brokhum on December 7, 1968, who survives. They enjoyed over forty years of marriage together. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael J. Forsey of Gloversville; two daughters: Joyce Nellis Dan of Caroga Lake and Michelle L. Forsey of Gloversville; six grandchildren: Rondalynn Daley, Danielle Nellis, David Daley, Brittney Forsey, Anthony Forsey and Chiann Daley; four brothers: John Forsey, Sr. Addie of Gloversville, Harry Forsey Carol of Northville, Andrew Forsey, Jr. of Gloversville and Joseph Forsey Kathy of Johnstown; a sister, Gertrude Carpenter of Gloversville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a nephew, Hondo Carpenter, who was racecar driver #9 at the Fonda Speedway, of whom David was very proud. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. with Father Kenneth Swain presiding. Interment will be at Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Gloversville, 12078 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
