Obituary of Eugene H. Marrone

Eugene H. Marrone, 79, of Dean Street, passed away Saturday morning at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Amsterdam on May 21, 1930, he was the son of Luigi and Josephine Marrone. He attended local schools. Eugene proudly served with the US Army from 1952 to 1954 and graduated from the Army's Leadership Course 's 5th Infantry Division. He trained the troops for service in Korea through the 5th Infantry's 11th regiment. He was employed by Consolidated Diesel in Scotia for ten years, and later for Coleco for eight years . He retired from Guardian Photo as a driver in 1994. Eugene was a member of the Army National Guard Company G's 27th Division and was a parishioner of the former St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church. In his earlier years, he was active with the Boy Scouts. On Sept. 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Anna Tortorella. She predeceased him on May 1, 1995. He leaves his sons; Robert E. Debra Marrone of Amsterdam, Donald Denise Marrone of Gloversville and Paul Camilla Marrone of Amsterdam; brothers; Nicholas S. Marrone of Scotia, Valentino "Tino" Fran Marrone of Amsterdam; and his sister, Virginia Richard Glamm of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place with military honors at St. Michael's Cemetery. There are no calling hours at Gene's request, and contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice Of Amsterdam through the funeral home office. His arrangements have been entrusted by his family to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
