Obituary of Catherine M. Wallace

Mrs. Catherine M. Wallace, 81, of Stewart Lane in Fonda, died peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 following a brief illness. Born in Yonkers on June 21, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Charles Allen Biddinger and Mary Elizabeth Fitzgerald. She was raised in Yonkers and was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Academy. An area resident for the past 40 years, Catherine was employed for GTE Phone Company in Johnstown until her retirement. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda. Above all, she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her loving family includes her eight children, George Suzanne Wallace of Utica, Mary Daniel Reich of Johnstown, Michael Lynn Wallace of Port Henry, Barbara Carl Tambasco of Tribes Hill, Kathleen Phillip Chizek of Michigan, Patricia Wallace of Arizona, Irene Carpenter of Fonda and Cheryl Wallace John Mitchell of Ballston Spa; two siblings, Charles Biddinger and Helen Chynoweth both of Vineland, NJ; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Bryan Reich. Prayer services will be conducted on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 9 o'clock at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Broadway, Fonda with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher, OFM Conv. as celebrant. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5 until 8 this evening Friday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited and lead by Catherine's daughter, Mary at 7 o'clock. Contributions in her memory may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
