Obituary of Sophie Normandin

Sophie "Richie" Normandin, 98, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. She was born February 20, 1911, the daughter of the late George and Lestie Strait Lawyer. She was employed by the Swears Insurance Agency where she worked as a clerk. She was also employed by Argersinger's Department Store as a sales person. She was united in marriage to Paul Normandin in 1931. He predeceased her in 1994. Richie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gloversville and was in the Semper Fidelis Class there. She is survived by a son, Richard P. Normandin Marilyn of Caroga Lake; a daughter, Dianne A. Rudnicki Zigmund of Las Vegas; five grandchildren: Rick Hanna of Utah, Arden Belsher of Las Vegas, Paul Normandin of North Carolina, Reggie Normandin of Gloversville and Andrea Barbosa of Endicott; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; two step grandchildren, Jerry and Monika Czerwinski of San Antonio, TX ; a sister, Mary Morgan of Caroga Lake and two nephews: Larry Palcovic of Las Vegas and Jack Palcovic of Florida. In addition to her husband, Richie was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stacia Normandin and a brother, Richard Lawyer. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 17 at 1 p.m at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Pastor Carson O. Mouser officiating. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. Donations may be made in Richie's memory to The Activities Department of FCRHCF, 847 County Highway 122, Gloversville, NY 12078
