Obituary of James J. Bottisti

Mr. James J. Bottisti Sr., 67, of County Highway 126, Broadalbin, NY, passed away Monday June 8th, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 21st, 1942 a son of James and Grace Lee Bottisti. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1960 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War serving aboard the U.S.S. Galveston. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. James was a member of the South Side Veterans, Port Jackson Bocce Club and was an avid Golfer and Bowler. Mr. Bottisti was employed as an Electrician for over 40 years for the Union Local # 236 in Schenectady, NY. He married Madeline "Mattie" Leonetti Bottisti on July 3rd, 1998. In addition to his loving wife and best friend Madeline he is survived by one son, James Bottisti and his wife Christine of Griffin, GA. One daughter, Sheree Kretser and her husband Richard of Fultonville, NY. Two step sons, Michael Furman and his wife Ann of Broadalbin, NY and Stephen Furman and his Fiance' Sabrina Conte of Amsterdam. One sister, Sandra Winney and her husband David of Broadalbin, NY. Beloved grandchildren, Amanda Bottisti of Amsterdam, NY, Johnathan and Courtney Bottisti of Griffin, GA, Jessica Marotta and Kaitlin Kretser of Fultonville, NY, Ryan and Amber Furman of Broadalbin, NY. Mother-in-Law, Ann Leonetti of Amsterdam. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. James also leaves behind a very special friend Nick Sampone of Amsterdam. He was predeceased by two sisters, Antoinette "Toni" C. Bottisti Orapello on August 24, 2007 and Barbara Bottisti Orapello on November 24, 1993. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 12th, 2009 at 8:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Main St. Amsterdam, NY with Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday June 11th, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd, Albany, NY 12205 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211.
